We often know our clients, our friends and our acquaintances for specific reasons. We know them through work, school, social groups or church. Unless they are very close, we often only have a 1 dimensional perspective of the person. It has been interesting to us over the years to learn more about our clients. We have a few who are musicians, including guitarists, singers, etc. We have one who is an artist and paints beautiful works. Many know that, while my day job is trial consultant, I am a photographer who worked as a professional photographer full time for a number of years. And, as we have written in a prior post, Melissa has some talents beyond trial consultant and psychologist – she is a published book author of several books. Her recent publication, Ziggy Stardust: A Cat’s Tale, resulted in her inclusion as a professional member in the Cat Writer’s Association. The Cat Writer’s Association is an international organization that selects its members based on the excellence of their cat related works. We learned of the association during our publication work for the book. Some of you have purchased and read the book. Thank you! The feedback has been wonderful. Stay tuned for another cat book.

I have authored and published numerous scientific articles in professional journals, including psychology journals and legal publications.  I have also co-authored and published two books related to my profession, social psychology.  Overall, these publications have earned me the respect of my colleagues and clients, but they are not what anyone would refer to as “light reading.”  My late mother was my biggest fan and she was always the first person to receive my latest publication.  Upon reading it, she would remark, “Well, you are certainly a good writer, but I have no idea what most of this is about.”  All this being said, many people were surprised when I wrote, then published, a book about a cat.  The cat who was the subject of my nonfiction book was not just a cat; he was the late, great Ziggy Stardust and, as the book jacket says, he had more experiences than most people will ever have!  In the process of trying to publicize the book about Ziggy, we learned about the Cat Writer’s Association (CWA) and soon submitted my book for their review in consideration of my application for membership in the organization.  So, now I am a bona fide professional author of a cat book, according to the CWA.  Everyone who has read my book tells me they have enjoyed it, including one of my long time clients who, as it turns out, is as much of a cat fancier as me.  Several people have asked me to write another cat book (some of these people are hoping for a “shout out” in my next book, I daresay!) and have suggested several possible themes for it.  There may be another cat book or two in my future; one never knows when the inspiration will strike.
