Travel Patterns, Routines, & Variations

The work we do as trial consultants involves traveling nationwide – wherever the cases may be. Traveling presents many challenges and is physically tiring. Developing some patterns to bring methods to the madness helps with these challenges. For example, we long ago established some routines or standard operating procedures (SOPs) when it comes to travel arrangements. One of these SOPs is that all rental car reservations are always made in the name of the senior most person traveling. That way, the guess work when heading to the car counter is eliminated. It may seem minor, but it is 1 less thing to worry about. Sometimes, a variation to the scheme makes sense, but developing SOPs makes it easier on those traveling and the staffers doing the planning/booking.

Speaking as the person for whom the travel arrangements are usually made, the essentials involved in doing things the same way, from trip to trip, airport to airport, rental car, to rental car, etc. is one less thing for the weary traveler to worry about. If I can arrive to an airport, tired (and probably frustrated) from my flight, go to the rental car counter, and know a car is waiting that meets my travel needs, has my frequent user number input, and all of the specific requests I always make taken care of, that is a relief to me and allows me to get to the place where I need to go, to assist the person(s) who are paying me to be there.
